Manuscript Specialist
Western Historical Manuscript Collection-Columbia, MO

The Western Historical Manuscript Collection-Columbia, at the University of Missouri, has a full-time position available.  The collection includes the manuscript holdings of the University of Missouri and the State Historical Society of Missouri.

Responsibilities:  Primary duties include developing and maintaining website, databases, and other electronic information.  Additional duties include processing manuscript collections and providing reference service.

Qualifications:  Master’s degree in history, library science, or another social science is required.  Experience with web applications and data base management is necessary.  Good visual skills and the willingness and ability to lift and carry 35 to 40-pound boxes are mandatory.  Preference will be given to candidates who have archival training or experience working in an archival setting. 

Compensation:  Annual salary is $31,000.  Position carries University of Missouri benefits, including generous vacation and sick leave and personal days, vested retirement after 5 years, medical and dental insurance, educational assistance for employees and dependents, and other options.
