LITA Web Manager
Job Description
In
cooperation with the LITA Board, LITA staff, and the Web Coordinating Committee
and interest group chairs, the Web Manager is responsible for the content and
services available on the LITA website. The Web Manager makes policy
recommendations to the Board on issues such as page appearance, standards and
technologies used on the site, and the use of outside contractors; LITA staff is
responsible for routine site maintenance and works with the Web Manager and ALA
ITTS staff to implement changes.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the LITA web site working
with appropriate LITA Committee and Interest Group coordinators, LITA Web
Editors, the Board and LITA and ALA ITTS Office staff.
- Determine the content, form, and
design of the site, which provides “the face of LITA” to both its members and
the public in consultation with the LITA Board.
- Work with the LITA Office and ALA
ITTS to investigate, test, and implement new technologies for web publishing.
- Establish a web technologies sandbox
for prototyping and developing new services and content for LITA members;
invite and authorize LITA members to participate in this development
activity
- Chair and coordinate the activities
of the LITA Web Coordinating Committee
- Provide LITA representation on the
ALA Web Advisory Committee.
- Maintain the LITA Web site
documentation
- Manage web publishing
authorization
- Provide technical support as needed
to individuals involved in maintaining the site
- Provide analysis of and reports for
usage log data and archive the log files
- Delegate above responsibilities
among Web Coordinating Committee members as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Experience in developing and running
website representing an organization
- Excellent knowledge of HTML, Content
Management Systems, and Web 2.0 Technologies.
- LITA Member (can join if not already
a member)
- Familiarity with LITA structure,
Interest Groups, and programs
Reports
to:
- LITA Board
- Provides reports semi-annually for
the LITA Board
Term
- Term begins following the ALA
Midwinter Meeting in February 2007 and runs through Annual Conference
2008.
Compensation
- Annual stipend or reimbursement of
expenses for ALA Annual and Midwinter conference up to $1,500
annually.
LITA
Provides:
- Appropriate training in Collage
(CMS)
- Access to sandbox for testing new
technologies
