Baylor seeks to fill the following faculty position in the University Libraries, Reference & Library Instruction Unit.

POSITION: Science Reference Librarian

QUALIFICATIONS:  ALA accredited Master's degree in library science required or equivalent combination of education and professional experience; significant knowledge in one or more of the following areas: science, computer science, engineering, and mathematics, plus demonstrated competency to serve clients in all scientific fields; demonstrated knowledge of science research and publication trends; ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and library clients in a service-oriented, research intensive environment; effectiveness in preparing and conveying information in a variety of learning environments; familiarity with the concepts, goals, and methods of information literacy; facility with technology and its application in academic contexts; and demonstrated creativity, initiative and self-direction.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide general and specialized research assistance and curriculum-integrated information literacy programs for the sciences, computer science, engineering and related disciplines; participate in collection development and liaison activities for assigned academic units, developing strong partnerships with faculty in those units; analyze trends in the research programs and curricula of assigned units, keep current with trends in the literature and scholarship of the disciplines themselves, and use this knowledge to build and manage the Libraries' collections in assigned disciplines; promote new modes of scholarly communication and solicit Baylor’s scholarly output for inclusion in the institutional repository; contribute to the development of online learning resources and tools; maintain and develop subject Web pages; support and enhance faculty use of course management software; represent Baylor at regional and national conferences and meetings; meet University expectations for scholarship and service; and serve on Library and University committees as appointed or elected.

RANK AND SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
