DIGITAL
INITIATIVES LIBRARIAN
The
University of New Orleans Earl K. Long Library is seeking a dynamic, energetic Digital Initiatives Librarian to develop
and implement digital projects as a member of the newly organized Technology Department.
Responsibilities:
·
Collaborates with library and
campus partners to develop and manage digital collections such as the
university institutional repository and other digital initiatives
·
Works with the Applications Team
on the development and maintenance of the library’s website
Required Qualifications:
·
ALA-accredited MLS degree;
demonstrated experience with web design and development, including knowledge of
HTML, CSS, and Javascript
·
Digital imaging experience
·
Demonstrated experience with a variety
of metadata and associated functional standards, including Dublin Core, EAD,
MARC, and appropriate thesauri
·
Experience with content management
software, particularly CONTENTdm
·
Knowledge of database management
principles and software
·
Familiarity with applicable
provisions of copyright law
·
Knowledge of best practices in
digital project creation and management
·
Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills both orally and in writing
·
Ability to meet the promotion and
tenure requirements of the LSU System
Preferred Qualifications:
·
Experience working with archival
and special collections materials
·
Degree in history or related field
·
Familiarity with SQL, PERL, XML,
ASP.NET
·
Experience converting video and
audio content to appropriate web formats; experience working in a team
environment; experience with vendors and consortia.
Salary & Rank: Tenure-track 12
month academic faculty position at Assistant Librarian rank. Salary:
$40,000 plus benefits.
