The Department of Educational Leadership and Human
Development at the University of Central Missouri invites applications for a
tenure-track assistant professor position in the area of library science. The
successful candidate has earned a doctorate in library science or a closely
related field (ABD considered) and demonstrates evidence of effective teaching
and scholarship with experience/expertise in preK-12 librarianship. The
position carries teaching, research, and service responsibilities. Formal
review of applications will begin January 14, 2008, and continue until the
position is filled.
Courses are delivered online; however, some courses
include on-campus Saturday sessions. Courses include those leading to Missouri
school library media certification, a Master of Science in Library Science, and
an Education Specialist Degree in Human Services—Library Resources.
Opportunities for teaching in the summer with additional compensation are
available. The library science program is in the Department of Educational
Leadership and Human Development and offers opportunities for collaborative
interdisciplinary research and publication. It is NCATE-accredited and
nationally recognized. Its focus is to train candidates to be preK-12 school
library media specialists.
