Assistant Professor of Library Media

Southern Utah University, located in Cedar City, Utah, is seeking
applicants to fill the position of Assistant Professor of Library Media. 
This is a tenure track position to begin January 2, 2008.  Salary is
$40,000 with excellent retirement (14.2%) and medical benefits.
Duties & Responsibilities include the following:
·Coordinate, promote, develop and assess the School Library Media
Program.
·Teach online courses in the library media program which includes
course development.
·Teach an online information literacy course required for all
students.
·Scholarly activity, professional and community service as required
by the University.
·Reference desk service, which may include nighttime and weekend
assignments.
·Collection development for assigned subject area to include
selection and maintenance of such materials. 
·Other assignments as required by library administration.
Minimum Qualifications:
·MLS from accredited library school or equivalent education. 
Doctoral degree required for tenure.
·Teaching K-12 or training experience preferred.
·Interest and experience in teaching college level online courses
preferred.
·Strong oral and written communication skills.
·Knowledge of library print and electronics resources required.
·Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work successfully
with a wide variety of constituencies.
·Ability to adapt to continually changing circumstances.
·Evidence of potential for earning tenure and promotion to full
professor.
·Ability to work harmoniously with students, university faculty,
staff, and administration.
