Information Discovery and Metadata Librarian --  Marshall University --
West Virginia
 

Library: Information Discovery and Metadata Librarian. Marshall
University Libraries seek a service-oriented and accomplished professional
cataloging librarian with strong communication skills to be the lead in
developing and managing traditional and non-traditional bibliographic
access and control processes that support the collections and services in
the Libraries.  This redefined position has an opportunity to play a
strategic role in the harmonization of non-standard metadata for a variety
of collections housed within the library system and campus community.  This
position is responsible for generating traditional original/copy
cataloging and metadata to enable cross-collection searching for print and
digital collections. We desire to employ an individual who can perform
original cataloging in all bibliographic formats  and who also possesses
the leadership and communication skills to coordinate a University-wide
digital content management program. Qualifications: Excellent oral and
written communication skills; demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan,
coordinate and implement multiple projects; ability to write and carry-out
policies and procedures; prior successful supervisory experience and
willingness to participate in information literacy services.  Candidate
must possess ability to work in teams with all facets of university
community and general public, willingness to participate in campus
retention programs, broad knowledge of the field of librarianship, strong
commitment to enriching access to information, and potential to meet
established library criteria for promotion and retention.  Required:
ALA accredited Master's in Library Science, three to five years of
experience cataloging in a variety of formats, knowledge of current and
emerging national cataloging standards (e.g., AACR2r, MARC21, Library of
Congress Classification, LSCH, RDA, FAST, FRBR) and familiarity with
metadata standards and practices (e.g., Dublin Core, TEI, Onix, OAI-PMH).
Position is open until filled. Salary will be commensurate with
qualifications and experience. Librarians are 12 month, non-tenure,
librarian-track employees with faculty rank, competitive benefits,
(TIAA/CREF), 24 days accrued annual leave. Marshall University is an
