Media Services Librarian --  West Virginia University -- West Virginia
 

Library: Media Services Librarian. The Media Services Librarian
reports to the Associate Dean and Director of the Downtown Campus Library
and is responsible for the operation, services, and instructional programs
of the Media Services Department.  The Department assists students and
faculty using the audio, video, and digital media library collections, and
provides basic assistance with instructional media projects.  Facilities
within the Libraries include high-end public computer workstations,
media-equipped study rooms, group viewing rooms, and assistive technology
equipment.  The Department manages a growing media course reserve service
with online access for West Virginia University students and faculty.  The
Media Services Librarian will participate in the development of the
Libraries' digital projects, including an outstanding collection of
archival materials, folk music, campus lectures, image collections, and
instructional toolkits, and will also participate in a library-wide
instruction and information literacy initiative.  The Librarian directly
supervises 4 staff and 11 student workers, and will be responsible for
collection development in one or more subject areas.  This is a department
head position in the Downtown Campus Library. Required qualifications: 
Master's degree in library science from ALA accredited institution. 3
years' post-MLS experience in an academic library.  Experience with a
variety of media software, audiovisual and digital formats, and Web page
creation.    Strong knowledge of emerging trends in media delivery in
academic libraries.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated technology and presentation skills to contribute to effective
teaching. Commitment to providing responsive and innovative services for
undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty. Familiarity with library
digitization projects. Supervisory or teaching experience.  Familiarity
with copyright law and fair use.  Finalists invited for interviews will do
