The dean reports directly to the provost and works with other deans to provide administrative leadership to the campus.The responsibilities of the position include administrative oversight and leadership in the areas of academic affairs, budget, faculty development, personnel decisions, planning, research, and fund raising. The dean should be committed to working with faculty, staff, and administration to achieve academic excellence in research and teaching; in providing service to the community; and in advancing the University's goals of diversity, equal opportunity, and affirmative action.The College of Education and Psychology has nationally recognized and accredited programs and enjoys strong relationships with numerous federal, state, and local agencies necessary for funding, accreditation, and instructional support. The departments and schools that comprise the College include: Child and Family Studies; Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education; Educational Leadership and Research; Library and Information Science; Psychology; and Technology Education.The College has 112 faculty members and an enrollment of more than 2,700 majors, including doctoral, specialist, masters, and undergraduate students. Programs offered by the College are distributed across the University's strategically located campuses in Hattiesburg (main campus) and on the Gulf Coast. The University of Southern Mississippi is a comprehensive doctoral and research University founded in 1910.
