Established in 1889 as a teacher education institution, the university has developed into a multi-purpose institution with over 8,200 students and over 400 faculty offering more than 60-degree programs at the baccalaureate, masters and doctorate level. Located in Western Pennsylvania, the town of Slippery Rock is within seven miles of two major interstate highways, I-79 and I-80, which make the university easily accessible to Pittsburgh, Erie and Cleveland, Ohio. The following tenure track faculty positions are available beginning Fall 2008.ART - (Print Fibers) - Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking (emphasis in intaglio or lithography) with a demonstrated proficiency in Fiber Arts, Textiles or Weaving required. The successful candidate will be well versed in the theory, practice and history of both Printmaking and Fibers, and will demonstrate aptitude in traditional and contemporary techniques, including the application of digital technologies. The successful candidate must also be flexible in scheduling and in their approach to problem solving in an evolving environment. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the education of diverse populations, and candidates who bring minority and culturally diverse perspectives to their teaching are preferred. Successful performance in an on-campus interview, including a teaching demonstration in Printmaking, is required. A minimum of one year's teaching experience at the university level or related professional experience is preferred.EDUCATION & INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS CENTER LIBRARIAN - MLS from an ALA accredited institution or the equivalent from a foreign university and a minimum of two years of professional experience are required. Candidates are also required to have web design skills, effective teaching skills, supervisory skills, strong collection management skills, and demonstrated experience with information literacy instructional design and implementation. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the education of diverse populations. Preference will be given to applicants with an education degree, academic experience, reference experience, and experience working with budgets. Successful completion of an on-campus interview, including a presentation demonstrating required skills on a topic to be determined by the search committee, is also required. As a tenure track position, the successful candidate must be willing to meet the academic and scholarly requirements for tenure.
