Purpose: This position provides leadership for the Capella University Library's reference, school liaison and information literacy programs, ensures the quality and relevance of existing services, initiates the development, implementation and assessment of new programs and manages a staff of reference/liaison and information literacy librarians. This position reports to the Director of Library Services. Responsibilities: ·Plan, manage and assess reference services, liaison, outreach and information literacy initiatives for learners and faculty ·Plan and implement enhancements and additions to reference services, liaison, outreach and information literacy programs to increase awareness of, access to and effective use of library resources by learners, faculty and staff ·Manage and develop a team of librarians who are responsible for providing reference services, library instruction, and information literacy programs. ·Drive the implementation and integration of the Information Literacy Plan ·Participate in strategic planning for the library and work collaboratively with the Library Director to establish and implement library goals, objectives, policies and procedures ·Participate in collection development decisions and initiatives ·Prepare forecasts, analyses, metrics and reports for reference services and information literacy initiatives ·Facilitate team-building and collaboration within and across library workgroups and the university ·Maintain a high level of engagement as a professional librarian as measured by publications and presentations, awareness of the professional literature, participation in professional associations and consortia, and attendance and participation at conferences ·Other duties as assigned Qualifications: ·Education: Master of Library Science Degree from an ALA accredited institution ·Experience: A minimum of three years professional leadership with administrative and staff management responsibilities in an academic library, with five years desired ·Knowledge of information literacy initiatives ·Demonstrated commitment to providing library and information services to learners and faculty in a distance learning environment ·Demonstrated use of data, analytical skills, assessment, and project management skills necessary to bring about excellence in library programs ·Leadership style characterized by teamwork, consensus building skills, open communication, trust, respect and cooperation ·Ability to build collaborative relationships across the university ·Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse campus population ·Strong written, oral and presentation skills ·Travel required This position is based in Capella's corporate headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota and relocation assistance is not provided.
