You'll find a special subscription offer at http://chronicle.com/4free/?ej _________________________________________________________________ - The text of the job listing is below - Head, Scholarly Communication Services -- University of Oregon -- Oregon UNIVERSITY OF OREGON LIBRARIES HEAD, SCHOLARLY COMMUNICATION SERVICES The University of Oregon Libraries (Eugene, OR) invites applications and nominations for an experienced, innovative, and user-oriented librarian to fill this new position dedicated to influencing the shape of the libraries' collection of traditional and digital resources, as well as providing and promoting scholarly services that support the research and instructional mission of the University. Provides a leadership role within the campus community in support of scholarly services and digital initiatives; outreach and promotional activities associated with Scholars' Bank, the UO's institutional repository; explores new opportunities for faculty publication; develops and administers copyright-related policies and services; provides faculty support services; analyzes and selects alternative methods of providing access. Reports to the Associate University Librarian for Collections and Access. The successful candidate will support and enhance a diverse learning and working environment. Qualifications: Required: ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS or earned doctorate plus experience in an academic or research library; substantial knowledge of current trends in scholarly communication and the academic publishing industry; a record of collaboration efforts involving diverse faculty and library staff; strong analytical skills; sound grasp of current issues and trends facing research libraries including the impact of digital initiatives; demonstrated ability to work independently and to collaborate effectively with staff at all levels and with people of diverse backgrounds. Preferred: At least three years' experience in increasingly responsible academic or research library position. Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
