Mississippi University for Women (MUW)Dean of Library Services
Mississippi University for Women (MUW) invites applications and
nominations for the position of Dean of Library Services. The Dean is the
chief administrative and academic officer of Mississippi University for
Women's J.C. Fant Memorial Library. The position is tenure-eligible with
faculty rank and reports to the Provost. The Dean must articulate a clear
vision and guide strategic planning for library services at MUW. In
addition, the Dean must exhibit a commitment to the library's central role
in campus life and in supporting the institution's teaching, research, and
service mission. As a member of the faculty, the Dean must create an
environment that enhances learning and scholarship on campus, including
the development of information fluency among first-year students. The Dean
will implement library policy, manage library resources, engage in fund
raising and grant-writing, supervise faculty and staff, and support
personnel development. The Dean also serves as an advocate and primary
liaison between Fant Memorial Library and internal and external
constituents, including local and regional library groups. Minimum
Qualifications:* M.L.S. or equivalent from an A.L.A.-accredited program*
Significant and progressive library administrative experience in a college
or university library* Knowledge and understanding of information
technology as it relates to library services and instructional support*
Experience with budgeting, financial management, and fund
raising/grant-writing* Ability to manage a service-oriented work
environment and create collaborative working relationships both internally
and externallyPreferred Qualifications:* M.L.S. from an A.L.A.-accredited
program * Experience with building construction and/or renovation*
Experience with archive development* A record of scholarly and
professional achievement warranting the award of tenureNomination and
