(Coordinator
of Instructional Technology Services)
(Full-time:
37.5 hours/week)
Purpose of Position:
Provide workshops and individual training for students on current and
emerging instructional technologies related to academic learning objectives;
provide reference services to students
Primary Duties:
- Develop, implement,
and evaluate library instructional technology mission, goals and objectives,
policies and procedures
- Supervise and train
instructional technology student workers to provide assistance to students
using software and hardware technologies related to academic coursework
- Coordinate a multi-faceted
technology training program that targets specific needs for students
- Analyze training
needs and organize and maintain a training schedule
- Conduct workshops
and demonstrations and provide individual instruction to teach technology
topics and skills related to students' coursework
- Research and learn
various software applications in order to adequately train others
- Collaborate with
other staff to promote campus wide technology training activities for
students
- Prepare and conduct
classes involving use of library resources
- Provide research
assistance to library patrons, including students, faculty, administrative,
and support staff
- Maintain communication
network with all library sites
- Assist with the
development and maintenance of current and balanced library collections
- Compile statistical
data regarding instructional services; prepare reports
- Assist with other
library functions/projects as needed (e.g., circulation, use of equipment,
weeding the collection)
- Serve on committees
and other college service-related activities
- Participate in professional
development activities and organizations
- Promote, support,
and participate in student recruitment and retention efforts
- Perform other job-related
duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Library Science
from an ALA accredited institution and two years full-time work experience
including software and technology training, electronic database searching,
academic reference, library instruction, and supervision
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of information
database search strategies (subscription databases); of various computer
technologies, productivity software, and educational software; of supervisory
principles and methods; of library science including reference, automation,
instruction methods, library materials, and bibliographic tools
- Ability to learn
and use various computer software applications; to explain technical
aspects of various software aspects for user application; to prioritize
and coordinate multiple job functions; and to work evenings and weekends
if scheduled
- Effective communication
skills; demonstrated interpersonal skills consistent with professional
attributes such as maintaining confidentiality, open-mindedness, and
flexibility; and documented ability to establish and maintain effective
working relationships
