Faculty Position in the College of Information
The Florida State University College of Information (http://ci.fsu.edu)
invites applications for a tenure track faculty position. Placement will
be made at the assistant professor level. Applicants must have excellent
research and teaching abilities, and must demonstrate both a potential for
productive scholarship and a record reflecting a strong commitment to
teaching.The successful applicant will demonstrate research and teaching
interests that augments or supports on one or more of the College's
current research areas. Ability to teach online classes is desirable.
Faculty members are expected to serve on University and College committees
and teams, and to advise students. Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree
in a relevant discipline.Demonstrated record or potential for achievement
in academic research, teaching, and service.Must meet university criteria
for appointment to the rank of assistant professor.The College of
InformationFSU's College of Information is a leader in the education of
digital-age information technology specialists and librarians and is
widely recognized for its pioneering role in the areas of Web based
education and undergraduate information technology education. Bachelor's,
Master's, and Specialist degrees are offered on and off campus. The Ph.D.
is offered as an on-campus degree. Commitment to all degree programs is
expected. The American Library Association accredited and NCATE approved
master's degree curriculum consists of concentrations in information needs
and services, youth information needs and services and information
architecture and technology. In the most recent national survey, FSU's
children and youth services programs were ranked tied for 1st in the
nation, the school media program was ranked 5th in the nation and the
information studies program was ranked 10th in the nation. The new
bachelor's degree in Information Technology includes instruction in
applying technology, managing information, communication and working with
people. The College currently enrolls 50 doctoral, 720 master's, 30
specialist, and 400 undergraduate students.FSU is a Research I university,
and the College of Information is recognized nationally and internationally
for its user-centered, interdisciplinary research. The Information Use
Management and Policy Institute (http://ii.fsu.edu/) is a key component in
the College's overall research activities and faculty members are expected
to seek external funding to support their research efforts. Join 35

faculty members, active in teaching, research, and service in a leading
