Program Coordinator: Consumer Health. The National Network of Libraries of Medicine Greater Midwest Region (NN/LM GMR) is seeking a knowledgeable, outgoing, energetic librarian to fill the Consumer Health Coordinator position. The GMR is located in the Library of the Health Sciences, University of Illinois at Chicago. Responsible for coordinating the consumer health program within the ten-state Greater Midwest Region, including developing instructional materials, training librarians to provide consumer health information services, and promoting NLM's consumer health resources, including the MedlinePlus database and MedlinePlus Go Local initiatives. The Coordinator works with representatives from public libraries, health science libraries, and community-based organizations to promote membership in the NN/LM and to offer consumer health workshops. The Coordinator serves as a liaison to network members who apply for consumer health subcontracts or who are interested in forming partnerships with community-based organizations for the purpose of improving public access to quality health information. The Coordinator also works with other NN/LM GMR staff to train librarians and health professionals on other Internet resources and new NLM systems; presents and exhibits at professional librarians' and health professionals' meetings; provides referrals and information about NLM services and products to librarians, consumers and health professionals; and contributes to the GMR's blog and other regional and state publications. ALA/MLS; two to five years' library experience, preferably in a health sciences library. Experience with NLM databases and products; experience with providing consumer health information services; teaching/training experience; experience with computers and developing Web resources; excellent written and oral communications skills; willingness to travel; and ability to transport and set up exhibit material.
