Associate Dean, Library --  New Mexico State University Main Campus -- New
Mexico
 

Library: Associate Dean, New Mexico State University Library. The New
Mexico State University Library invites applications for the position of
Associate Dean of the Library (Req. 2007010995). Founded in 1888, New
Mexico State University is a comprehensive land-grant university and
Carnegie designated high research institution. NMSU is a member of the
Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, and is classified as a
Title V Minority Institution by the U.S. Department of Education. The
University is located in the southern New Mexico city of Las Cruces, which
offers a variety of cultural and recreational opportunities. For additional

Dean reports directly to the Dean of the Library, manages and oversees
daily library operations, and directly supervises all library department
heads and the Grants/Public Relations Coordinator.  The Associate Dean
also oversees library-wide facilities and space management and safety and
security activities in cross-organizational collaboration with others. 
The Associate Dean of the Library supports the Dean of the Library in
planning and management of library budgets, strategic planning, personnel
management, development of library policies and procedures and special
projects assigned.  This position serves as the primary library
administrator in the absence of the Dean and represents the Dean as
assigned. Qualifications: Required:  MLS from an ALA-accredited
program; three or more years of management experience at the department
head level or higher; demonstrated evidence of expertise and experience in
at least two of the following academic library administrative areas: 
strategic planning, facilities and space planning, budget management and
planning, faculty personnel management in a tenure-track faculty setting.
Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage detail effectively; strong
interpersonal, written, and oral skills; demonstrated effectiveness in
resource management and human relations skills; ability to work in
cross-organizational collaboration; strong critical thinking and human
relations skills. Preferred: Demonstrated organizational leadership;
evidence of initiative, creativity, and critical thinking; ability to
promote and build a culturally diverse workforce at all levels of the
organization; professional experience in two or more functional areas of
an academic library; management style that is inclusive, flexible, and
encourages staff development; client-centered service philosophy;
experience working in a collective bargaining environment. Position
Information: Full-time 12 month faculty position. Salary:
