Director, University Archives and Historical Collections --  Michigan
State University -- Michigan
 

Library: Michigan State University (MSU) seeks a Director of the
University Archives and Historical Collections (UAHC), starting January 3,
2008. The UAHC is chartered by the MSU Board of Trustees to be the steward
of institutional memory by preserving, providing scholarly access to, and
assuring the accurate interpretation of University historical and business
records.  UAHC has a key leadership role in guiding the University's
policies and practices for managing digital records and objects. The UAHC
also collects and preserves materials of historical value not directly
relating to University history. The Director of the UAHC reports to the
Vice Provost for Libraries, Computing and Technology and will have a
unique opportunity to contribute key leadership to a major research
university's initiatives in emerging methods for electronic records
management and archiving. The director's position is a 12-month continuing
appointment.  Salary will depend on experience and qualifications.  Minimum
qualifications include master's degree (terminal degree desired) in library
or archival science, 5 years of senior-level professional experience in an
archival or related operation, with progressive responsibilities.  Desired
starting date is January 3, 2008.  Further information on the Michigan
