First Year English Instruction Librarian --  Georgia Institute of
Technology -- Georgia
 

Library: First Year English Instruction Librarian. The Georgia Tech
Library and Information Center invites applications for an energetic,
flexible, and innovative professional to join the Information Services
Department delivering user-centered library services to the academic
community. The Georgia Institute of Technology is a top tier university
and has several nationally recognized programs in science and engineering.
The Georgia Tech Library and Information Center
(http://www.library.gatech.edu) is a member of the Association of Research
Libraries, and was awarded the 2007 Association of College and Research
Libraries' Excellence in Academic Libraries Award. Responsibilities:
The Instruction Librarian assists in the development, implementation, and
delivery of library-instruction programming that supports the English
Composition curriculum of Georgia Tech.  This includes developing
face-to-face and Web-based, online library-instruction modules and
tutorials that can be integrated into T-Square/Sakai (GT's Course
Management System), as well as assisting and serving as a resource for
colleagues in developing and implementing such programming.  This position
will work closely with a Communication Program and Communications Center
that Georgia Tech is creating.  In addition, the Instruction Librarian
delivers reference services in an Information Commons and may provide
outreach services for faculty and students in a school/department that
will be determined by the successful candidate's background.  Some evening
and weekend hours are required. Qualifications. Required: ALA
accredited MLS.  Strong presentation skills; commitment to outreach
service; ability to work independently and as a team member, and to assess
and shift priorities in a demanding and rapidly changing environment. 
Preferred: instruction experience and/or experience delivering
reference services; familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in
teaching with technology in higher education; familiarity with teaching
first year composition, writing, rhetoric and technical/professional
communications; and demonstrated leadership abilities.  Salary and
Benefits:  Salary is competitive and based on qualifications and
experience.  The minimum salary for this position is $42,000.  Librarians
are members of the General Faculty and are non-tenured.  Georgia Tech
offers a comprehensive benefits package, which includes 21 days' vacation,
12 paid holidays, 12 days' sick leave, health/dental insurance options,
and retirement options including TIAA/CREF. Relocation allowance
