The Georgia Tech Library and Information Center invites applications for an energetic, flexible, and innovative professional to join the Information Services Department delivering user-centered library services to the academic community. The Georgia Institute of Technology is a top tier university and has several nationally recognized programs in science and engineering. The Georgia Tech Library and Information Center (http://www.library.gatech.edu) is a member of the Association of Research Libraries, and was awarded the 2007 Association of College and Research Libraries' Excellence in Academic Libraries Award. Responsibilities: The Distance Learning/Mechanical Engineering Librarian proactively and responsively coordinates, delivers, and promotes a full range of distance learning library services. Builds partnerships with the distance learning academic community. Collaborates with colleagues to facilitate access to services and resources and to develop and deliver curriculum-integrated instruction in multiple delivery formats. Evaluates service delivery on an ongoing basis. Provides outreach services for faculty and students in the School of Mechanical Engineering. Develops and delivers curriculum-integrated instruction, is responsible for collection development and liaison activities, and delivers information services in an Information Commons. Some travel is required. Some evening and weekend hours are required. Qualifications. Required: ALA accredited MLS. Candidates should have a strong commitment to outreach service; effective communication and presentation skills; ability to work independently and as a team member, and to assess and shift priorities in a demanding and rapidly changing environment. Preferred: Academic background and/or experience delivering information services in engineering; demonstrated leadership abilities; familiarity with the principles and services of distance learning. Salary and Benefits: Salary is competitive and based on qualifications and experience. The minimum salary for this position is $42,000. Librarians are members of the General Faculty and are non-tenured.
