Assistant Professor
School Media Librarianship

Position Title: Assistant Professor (Special Title Series)

Description: Academic year appointment with strong expectation of
summer teaching (at extra compensation), tenure track position with
responsibilities for teaching, coordinating the school media program,
advising, providing statewide leadership regarding school media
development, participation in professional activities at regional and
national level, and serving on university committees.

Areas of Teaching and Service Responsibility: School media libraries,
including familiarity with information technology applications in
P-12, and literature and related materials. Coordination of the school
media program, including state certification for rank change.

Qualifications: Doctoral degree in library and information science or
in a related field with Master's degree in library and information
science from an ALA accredited program; professional experience in
school media and evidence of teaching competency are required.

University of Kentucky: Founded in 1865, the flagship university of
the state opened its new library in spring 1998. This and the
libraries' strong administrative relationship with computing and
telecommunications services provide an unusually rich environment for
teaching and research. The School is part of the College of
Communications and Information Studies that includes the Department of
Communications and the School of Journalism and Telecommunications.

Salary: $50,000 (minimum) with retirement benefits and employer-funded
health insurance.
