Manage cataloging and bar coding of books & reports for general collection: review & approve copy cataloging by staff; maintain MeSH headings & other features to library’s online catalog; maintain the library’s classification system; evaluate the cataloging procedures & recommend changes, Review changes made in location for books, and assign subject file locations for vertical file material 2. Manage serials collection ensuring orders are received & correctly processed: Supervise serials processing & claiming performed by others & resolve any problems; Update SERHOLD records; Process complimentary subscription claims. 3. Coordinate twice annual journal binding project and edit Online Catalog records for bound journals. 4. Manage interlibrary loan service and supervise in the ordering of materials not available in the library through DOCLINE (and other methods as necessary); Fulfill incoming interlibrary loan requests; Organize and provide accurate interlibrary loan statistics; Recommend items for purchase based upon loan requests; Manage implementation of charge-back system; and ensure that materials are provided to staff in a cost-effective and timely manner. 5. Coordinate and process library donations and deselections. 6. Provide reference and research support to staff and members. Train staff and members to use the library, library databases, and online services; Develop guides and training materials as needed; Assist in the development of Internet guides, the library Intranet pages, and the library home pages 7. Perform special functions as assigned such as preparing, processing, and analyzing survey results and answering phones. Assist with space planning, disaster/preservation planning, and other collection planning activities. Qualifications ● Master’s in Library Science with additional experience in health sciences, special libraries, technical services, preservation, teaching, administration, public services, or information management. Certification by the Academy of Health Information Professionals desirable. ● Possess demonstrable knowledge and skills in cataloging medical books in a special library environment ● Excellent knowledge and understanding medical and special librarianship; MeSH and medical terminology; preservation; technical services; DOCLINE; and information management. ● Expert-level understanding of library hardware and software. High degree of computer literacy in Windows environment, integrated library software packages, database and spread sheet design, and word processing. ● Prior training and experience in web page design, including basic HTML, is highly desirable. ● Desire and ability to teach. ● Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; detail-oriented. Able to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively on teams. Salary: minimum $39,000
