Principal ResponsibilitiesThe University Librarian/Director is responsible for the leadership and administration of the Auraria Library, which serves the UCDHSC Downtown Denver Campus, the Metropolitan State College of Denver (MSCD) and the Community College of Denver (CCD) with a total campus enrollment of 32,663 and a faculty of 1,811. The University Librarian/Director garners resources from private and public funders, advocates for library resources and facilities, and represents the library within the University of Colorado system, to MSCD and CCD leadership, and among local, state, and national library organizations. S/he will provide transformational leadership in the development and implementation of a comprehensive library strategic plan, building on the findings of a recent task force that studied the library's funding and its future direction, and work to position the library as a national leader among academic libraries. The University Librarian/Director is a tenured faculty member at UCDHSC, participates as a member of the Denver campus Deans Council, and reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The University Librarian will be expected to provide advocacy and leadership for a new library building on campus.Auraria Library's collection includes over 1 million volumes, 3,000 print and electronic journal subscriptions, with access provided to over 23,000 digital journals and more than 250 databases. The library offers educational programs on campus, supports proactive diversity programming, and engages in community outreach activities. The University Librarian/Director is responsible for a budget of $7.5 million and 24 FTE library faculty (including both tenured/tenure-track and non-tenure-track faculty) and professional exempt staff, 44 FTE classified staff, and 12 FTE student workers.
