Visual Resources Librarian   CAS-42-07-073
Half Time, Academic-year Academic Staff Special Librarian 
Salary based on experience and qualifications
Department of Art and Design, College of Arts and Sciences, 
University of Wisconsin-Stout.  
Starting:  January 14, 2008
RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise general operation of the Visual Resources
Center for a teaching staff of 35 who serve approximately 800 BFA students
in Studio Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design and
Multimedia Design.   Research and develop the digital image collection
while maintaining the existing collection of 135,000 slides. Manage and
develop the EmbARK database and anticipate changing needs of users and
technology.   Maintain and manage the use of audio/visual equipment
for student and classroom use.  Supervise and train student employees, and
train faculty and staff in the use and operation of the equipment and
collection. Support and participate in the laptop-learning environment. 
Serve as liaison to the university library for enhancing art and design
resources. Participate in department, college and university service. 
Maintain a healthy and safe environment. Perform other duties as
designated by Department Chairperson. Opportunity for adjunct teaching
based on teaching qualifications.  
The candidate should demonstrate sensitivity to art and design aesthetics
and critical thinking.  Excellence should be demonstrated by professional
experience in the field of information management as well as in art
history and/or art or design. Demonstrated ability to work
independently and collaboratively with colleagues is essential.  
QUALIFICATIONS: 
· Ph.D. M.A., M.S or MFA in visual studies (art history or art or
design studio) with coursework in 
  information management or M.L.S./M.L.I.S. with coursework in Art,
Design, or Art History
· Experience with electronic media, including database management
· Supervised or management experience in a visual resources
collection
