SALARY:  $45,432.00 - $59,058.00 /Year

THE POSITION:

 

This position is responsible for overseeing and supervising the daily operations of a small branch or department in the library system. The present position is at the Thompson Lane branch; however, this list may be used to fill other possible vacancies at other branches.  This list will be active for 6 months.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES:

--Supervising the employees working in his/her assigned area
--Performing the more difficult or complex professional library work
--Developing and maintaining library materials collections
--Providing Reference and Reader's Advisory service to the public
--Assisting the public with the use of library materials and equipment
--Receiving and attempting to resolve complaints from the public
--Performing administrative duties
--Planning and organizing programs or activities
--Assessing the staffing and physical resource needs of their area as assigned
--Working with the administrative staff on the formulation of library policies
--May oversee or coordinate the implementation of grant funded programs
--Serving on committees dealing with specific library functions or issues
--Promoting the programs and services of the library in the community
--Keeping abreast of new trends in Library and Information Science

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree in Library Science from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of professional library experience, including one (1) year acting in a lead or supervisory capacity. The Library Science program must also be accredited by the American Library Association. No substitution of the Master's Degree or the experience will be permitted.
Some evening and weekend work may be required.
