The first endowed position of its kind, the professorship is in honor of Beverly Cleary, internationally renowned children's writer who graduated from the UW School of Librarianship in 1939. Created with gifts from the Cleary family, alumni, the library community and fans of Cleary's work, this distinguished professorship seeks a senior scholar, who will lead the Information School in having one of the largest and strongest children and youth services programs in the country. This appointment is anticipated at the rank of full-time tenured Associate Professor or Professor commensurate with qualifications and experience. Our new colleague will join a broad-based, inclusive Information School with academic programs at the bachelors, masters and doctoral levels. Information School faculty teach across all programs. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.The Information School wishes to continue developing an active research agenda in children and youth services. We seek an enthusiastic individual who can bring additional breadth of expertise to our program, including through curriculum development.
