Web Development and Information Services Librarian

Boston University Medical Center Library seeks an innovative librarian to
manage and coordinate the development of the Library's database-driven
website, including School and Course portals, in support of the Schools of
Medicine, Dental Medicine and Public Health, and the Division of Graduate
Medical Sciences.  This position collaborates with the Education
Coordinator Librarian and with Schools and faculty in planning and
developing web-based support for curriculum-integrated instruction,
including developing online tutorials, in-class instructional materials
and assessment and evaluation tools.   This position provides
curriculum-integrated information skills instruction and workshops;
participates in the development of a curriculum database; recommends and
uses new software and technologies; participates in reference services and
research consultations; serves on Library, Boston University and Medical
Campus technology committees; initiates and participates in special
projects, and other professional duties and activities.
Required: ALA-accredited MLS, Information Science or equivalent
degree, minimum 4 to 6 years experience; demonstrated expertise using
xHTML, CSS, SQL and Coldfusion, PHP or similar languages; ability to
develop, design, update, maintain and evaluate the Library website;
ability to develop online tutorials and other web-based instructional
support; ability to present curriculum-integrated information skills
instruction; ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff and
health and research professionals; excellent oral and written communication
skills.
Preferred: Experience using Adobe Photo Shop and Fireworks, XML and
PERL; experience teaching or providing library user education; knowledge
of medical information resources; degree or work experience in education,
educational technology, basic sciences, health, informatics or related
field.
