Information Literacy Librarian 
Department: Alexander Mack Memorial Library, Bridgewater College, 
Bridgewater, VA

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
•	Develops, coordinates, and delivers research and information 
literacy programs across the curriculum. 
•	Encourages and maintains collaborative relationship with faculty 
to assist them with integrating library information technology and 
resources into their courses. 
•	Develops promotional materials to keep college community informed 
of information literacy, reference and research services. 
•	Creates and maintains instructional materials and interactive web 
pages to facilitate use of library resources. 
•	Creates and maintains print and electronic bibliographies and 
finding aids. 
•	Serves with other librarians as a liaison to academic departments 
and suggests new materials in the liaison areas. 
•	Maintains familiarity with current library, information, and 
instructional technologies and stays abreast of reference and research 
techniques in a digital environment. 
•	Keeps the reference collection current by reading book reviews and 
recommending appropriate selections. 
•	Provides reference and research assistance to the college 
community and participates in weekend and evening reference service. 
•	Compiles and prepares statistics and reports as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS: The position develops, coordinates, and delivers research 
and information literacy programs across the curriculum. We seek a 
colleague who has strong interpersonal skills for developing collaborative 
relationships with faculty and demonstrates a proficiency in public 
speaking. Qualifications: ALA-accredited M.L.S, required; academic

GENERAL INFORMATION: The Alexander Mack Memorial Library was named for the 
founder of the Church of the Brethren and was built in 1962-63. It houses 
more than 180,000 books, periodicals, DVDs, videos, and audio books, while 
providing access to 20,000 electronic books and 15,000 online periodicals. 
A government depository since 1902, the library provides electronic access 
to millions of online government documents. Students also can check out 
wireless laptop computers for use in the library. Founded in 1880 with 
historic ties to the Church of the Brethren, Bridgewater College is an 
independent, co-educational, liberal arts college located in the scenic 
and historic Shenandoah Valley of Virginia; the quality of life is 
exceptional. We have a stable enrollment of approximately 1525 students,
