Reference Librarian, North Carolina Collection --  East Carolina
University -- North Carolina
 

Under the direction of the Head of the North Carolina Collection, the
North Carolina Reference Librarian will provide effective reference
service at the department's reference desk 8 to 12 hours a week,
including, on a rotational basis, evenings and weekends.  S/he will
actively promote the department to professors on campus and offer
instruction to classes in varied fields, as well as participate in e-mail
and chat reference services.  S/he edits the North Carolina
Periodicals Index http://www.ecu.edu/cs-lib/ncc/scope.cfm and
develops subject guides, tutorials, and other innovative promotional
materials.  The person in this position also administers the monthly
departmental column in the local newspaper among other outreach
activities, and may serve as a subject liaison to at least one academic
department or program.  S/he actively participates in library,
university, and professional committees; engages in research and creative
activity that fosters professional development and contributes to
knowledge of the profession and/or North Carolina studies and
undertakes other duties as assigned.
