Collection Development Coordinator --  Robert W. Woodruff Library of the
Atlanta University Center -- Georgia
 

 POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
JOB TITLE: Collection Development Coordinator

SUMMARY:
The Robert W. Woodruff Library of the Atlanta University Center is
searching for a Collection Development Coordinator.   This position
requires a high energy individual that will set the strategy, develop
policy, planning, implementation, and assessment for collection
development activities, including working collaboratively with Library
subject liaisons, departmental faculty, and consortial partners in the
metro Atlanta area.  This position is a non-tenure/non-faculty with a
twelve month appointment and reports to the Deputy Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
·Develops and coordinates planned collection development strategies
including assessment, selection, and de-selection of print, non-print, and
electronic monographic and serial library resources and gifts in all
subject areas. 
·Manages the materials budget and allocates money to subject funds
*Reviews trends in resource pricing; makes recommendations to library    
administration for budget adjustments
*Assesses subject funds to identify historical over/under funding;
makes recommendations to library administration to correct funding gaps
·Provides leadership to subject liaisons on collection activities
including:
*Selection and de-selection of print, non-print, and electronic
monographic and serial library resources and gifts
*Conducting periodic review of collection policies to ensure congruency
with curricular program developments of  member institutions
*Establishing and/or revising collection policies
*Coordinating assessment activities regarding collection, subject funds,
and liaison activities
*Identifying, developing, implementing training programs to address
collection development training needs.
*Identifying best practices in academic library collection development;
communicating those practices, and working with subject liaisons to
implement strategies appropriate to the Library.
·Participates in activities in support of accreditation at the
institutional and departmental levels
·Provides outreach to faculty, including, serving as liaison for
academic program/departments in subject areas supporting the
curriculum and research needs of the member institutions
·Provides curriculum-integrated, information literacy centered
library instruction to students and outreach to faculty
·Provides reference and research services to the students and
faculty members of the general AUC community
·Works with vendors to establish appropriate profiles for
acquisition of resources.
·Identifies and develops appropriate collection reports and
provides analysis for same
·Participates in the development and implementation of faculty
programs to generate an awareness of new resources
·Serves as the Chair of the Collection Development Committee.
·As appropriate opportunities are identified, serves on
professional committees at the local/regional/national level 
QUALIFICATIONS:
·2-3 years experience in an academic library performing collection
development and/or acquisitions responsibilities
·Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging trends, issues, and
best practices in academic library collection development, scholarly
communications, and assessment
·Demonstrated commitment to working in a culturally diverse
environment
·Familiarity with copyright issues
·Supervisory experience desirable
·Excellent oral and written communication skills
·Excellent organizational and analytical skills
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
·Graduate degree in library science from an ALA accredited program
required.
· Experience working with an integrated library system required;
experience working with the ExLibris Voyager system preferred.
SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary commensurate with experience; benefits
