Type of appointment: Assistant or Associate Professor; tenure track, 9-month appointment plus 28 additional duty days. Salary: minimum $53,000, commensurate with academic qualifications and experience. Responsibilities: The Electronic Resources/Serials Librarian will provide leadership for the selection, acquisition, assessment and maintenance of scholarly, popular and trade journals in electronic, print, and microform editions. Specific duties of the position: Provide leadership and apply knowledge of current issues and trends in scholarly communication and serial publishing to improve services and enhance library resources. Oversee the work of staff and student employees. Coordinate with other members of the Collection Management team, specifically the Collection Management Librarian, the Catalog Librarian and the Systems Librarian. Develop and manage workflows and assure timely processing and continuous access to electronic, print, and microform resources. Oversee serial budget management. Coordinate the evaluation, selection, withdrawal, and cancellation of electronic, print, and microform serial resources. Maintain accurate information about electronic, print, and microform subscriptions, subscription packages, license negotiations, and other complex serial acquisitions, including holdings, title changes, and renewals. Participate in the development of systems and procedures for managing and providing access to electronic resources. Coordinate with colleagues in MINITEX and MnPALS consortiums. Provide reference service. In addition, all library faculty in LR&TS advise university students, teach one course per year in a library-associated academic program, and serve on LR&TS and University committees. Demonstrated ability to teach and/or perform effectively, scholarly achievement or research, continued preparation and study, contribution to student growth and development, and service to the university and community are required for tenure and promotion. Qualifications and experience: required: ALA-accredited master's degree in library or information science. Significant experience with e-resources and serials management. Knowledge of current and emerging trends of scholarly publishing, serials and academic library services/resources. Experience with evaluation and assessment of serials. Demonstrated ability to work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds. Ability to speak and write knowledgeably and effectively. Preferred: Familiarity with the structure and management of online catalogs, and experience with a serials module of an integrated library system. Second graduate degree. Strong library-related technical skills. Teaching experience. Professional experience in an academic library.
