You'll find a special subscription offer at http://chronicle.com/4free/?ej _________________________________________________________________ - The text of the job listing is below - Cataloging Librarian -- Washington State University -- Washington Performs original and member copy cataloging in all formats, including electronic, in accordance with AACR2R, OCLC input standards, LCSH, and LC Classification. Performs database maintenance in Griffin, the WSU Libraries' online integrated system. Serves as a resource person and trainer for paraprofessional staff concerning cataloging, database maintenance, and workflow issues. Works with the Head of Bibliographic Control on the development and implementation of unit procedures and goals. Works with the Head of Bibliographic Control as liaison to other library units, the WSU community, and outside institutions to insure the effectiveness of the library online integrated system. Utilizes a variety of metadata schemes to organize and provide access to all WSU Libraries collections. Provides two hours of reference service weekly. REQUIRED: ALA-accredited masters' degree in library/information science. Minimum of three years of cataloging experience, preferably in an academic or research library. Knowledge of AACR2R, MARC formats, Library of Congress classification system, and Library of Congress subject headings. Demonstrated knowledge of trends in cataloging and national standards for bibliographic control. Experience cataloging using a bibliographic utility, preferably OCLC. Experience with integrated library systems, preferably Innovative Interfaces, Inc. Strong communication and organization skills. PREFERRED: Demonstrated knowledge of database maintenance issues and problems in an academic online public access catalog. Working knowledge of at least one, preferably non-Western, foreign language. Reference experience in an academic or research library.
