DEPUTY DIRECTOR
THE HEALTH SCIENCES LIBRARY
University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center

The Health Sciences Library at the Anschutz Medical Campus, University of
Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center (UCDHSC) seeks exceptional
candidates for the position of Deputy Director. The successful candidate
will serve as the top-level administrative officer under the Director and
has broad responsibilities for library-wide planning, budgeting, and
staffing.
All UCDHSC Health Sciences programs are in the process of moving to a new
campus in Aurora, CO and the new library building is scheduled to open in
Fall 2007 [see

Anschutz Medical Campus includes the Schools of Medicine, Nursing,
Pharmacy, and Dentistry, and the Graduate School. The University of
Colorado Hospital is also an integral partner of the campus.
All library departments, except Administration, report to the Deputy
Director.  Duties include personnel management, library operations, and
services to outside entities.  The Deputy Director advises the Director in
the development of policies and practices, coordinates planning,
implementation and operation of automated systems in the library,
represents the library on campus and at university and extramural levels
as required, and participates in overall planning for enhancement of
library programs and services.
Required qualifications:  an ALA-accredited graduate degree (Masters
or Doctorate) in library/information sciences; minimum 5 years of
management experience in an academic health sciences or large general
academic library with supervisory, planning, and budgeting experience. 
Additional selection criteria: demonstrated leadership and culturally
sensitive management capabilities; experience with the operation of
multiple departments; knowledge of health information management issues;
experience with and knowledge of library technology and automation issues;
excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills;
demonstrated ability to plan and implement complex projects; evidence of
personal involvement in and service to the library profession.  Membership
in the Academy of Health Information Professionals is preferred.
Compensation:  $70,000 minimum based on qualifications and experience.
 This is a non-tenured faculty position at the rank of Assistant or
Associate Professor.
