This is the first medical school to open in a major metropolitan area in a quarter -century and the first public medical school in south Florida. This position offers candidates the opportunity to be involved in the creation and launch of a new medical school, helping to shape the College of Medicine's innovative curriculum. Qualifications: Master's of library and information science required from an ALA-accredited program. At least 5 years of management-level experience in medical library preferred, or in an academic library. Qualified applicants should possess the following professional experience: · Strong service orientation with a broad understanding of contemporary approaches to the use of knowledge resources that support medical education, patient care, and biomedical research. · Ability to promote diversity of views as a manager and colleague and to effectively collaborate with other members of the academic community. · Ability to stimulate innovation and creativity in new service initiatives and utilize resources for the advancement of a world-class medical sciences library program. · Practical experience in use of digital knowledge management and delivery systems. · Ability to instruct end users in the retrieval and application of health care information. · Ability to develop content and design materials for instructional purposes. · Ability to plan and manage a library budget. · Ability and willingness to work collaboratively to integrate the library's electronic resources into the overall IT strategic plan for the medical school. · Demonstrated ability to develop effective strategies for integration of digital knowledge resources into clinical, research, educational, and administrative workflow. · Demonstrated ability to retrieve, select, organize, and disseminate health information. · Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, manage, and develop a diverse staff. · Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to effectively communicate in both technical and non-technical environments, as well as academic and clinical environments.
