Librarian --  University of Massachusetts at Amherst -- Massachusetts
 
Reference (50%) and Integrated Library System Support Librarian
(50%)Librarian I 
The University of Massachusetts Amherst seeks candidates for the position
of Reference and Integrated Library System Support Librarian. Under
general supervision of the Head, Research and Instructional Services (50%)
and the ALEPH Systems Manager (50%), provide general reference services and
research assistance to library users from a reference desk, phone, email
and using emerging technologies. Assist library users who report problems
accessing electronic resources during weekends. Provide technical support
for the integrated library system (ILS) and troubleshoot problem reports.
Assist with loading records into the ILS. Support the implementation and
maintenance of the electronic resources management system.QUALIFICATIONS:*
Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association
accredited library and information studies program. Degree must be earned
by time of hire.* Strong service commitment to library users and the
ability to interact effectively and work productively and collaboratively
with a wide variety of Library staff.* Comprehensive knowledge of and
efficiency in the use of reference and information sources and the methods
used in performing library research. * Demonstrated effective oral and
written communication skills, including mastery of interviewing skills.*
Strong organizational skills. Excellent attention to details. * Ability to
organize work, develop effective work processes, assess work priorities,
and work independently.* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
related to a technical environment. * Ability to deal effectively with
ambiguity, change and innovation.* Thorough understanding of MARC,
knowledge of Unicode and other standards for representation of information
in electronic form such as METS and MODS.* Knowledge of library
organization, policies, and procedures.* Knowledge of educational and
research programs of the University.* Experience with Microsoft Office
Windows Products, OCLC Connexion, and integrated library system
functionality.* Knowledge of Open URL-based link resolvers (e.g. SFX),
preferred.* Knowledge of UNIX, SQL, XML, and Oracle preferred.The
