Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Research Libraries has an opening for a
Librarian I/II, reporting to the Technical Services Coordinator and within
a team-oriented environment. In this position, the incumbent will provide
leadership in library technology development by supporting the integration
of new technologies and new approaches to the delivery of information into
library operations. The position supports the Libraries' digital asset
management system and digital projects by coordinating cataloging/metadata
activity in both print and digital formats. Duties include identification,
evaluation, and implementation of emerging library technology; management
of electronic resource linking software (SFX); coordinating
cataloging/metadata activity in both print and digital formats; support of
institutional digital projects; and developing inst tutional metadata
standards.Qualified candidates will posses an ALA-accredited MLS or
equivalent. Two years of library experience is preferred.Demonstrated
analytical and organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively
with others in a rapidly-changing environment. Proficiency in a
technological environment with an ability to acquire new
technologies.Understanding of emerging library technologies.Proficiency
with digital asset management and linking software. Proficiency with XML
and HTML.Cataloging experience or training in cataloging/metadata,
included demonstrated knowledge of OCLC, MARC formats, Dublin Core, and
other metadata schema.Effective oral and written communication
skills.Experience with integrated library systems.Rensselaer offers a
