Librarian --  Dixie State College of Utah -- Utah
 

Dixie State College has two positions for a Librarian.  Please visit our
website at www.dixie.edu for a job description for each position.
Includes but is not limited to:
·Provides professional reference service for all library patrons,
particularly undergraduate researchers, in person and digitally, including
some nights and weekends.
·Assists in administering LIB 1010, a one-credit required general
education online course in information literacy. 
·Teaches online sections of LIB 1010 as assigned.
·Performs collection development and maintenance activities for
assigned subject areas within the library, especially Education.
·Serves as liaison to assigned academic departments, particularly
Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education. 
·Manages large Pre-K - 12 Curriculum Collection including
selecting, packaging, weeding schedule, etc.  
·Performs in-person and online library instruction in assigned
disciplines, including creating Web guides and tutorials.
·Assists in supervising an area of library operations such as
circulation / reserve, serials, or acquisitions as assigned.
·Serves on committees as assigned and attends meetings as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
·Master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited
institution required.
·At least three years experience in an academic library preferred.
·A strong commitment to direct customer service.
·Experience with online instruction, preferably in the WebCT
courseware system.
·Knowledge of reference practices, including print and electronic
academic information sources, in a wide variety of subject areas.
·Ability to develop academic library collections in a variety of
formats within budgetary resources.
·Ability to multitask and balance a number of simultaneous
activities needed.
·Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, complemented by the
ability to take initiative.
·Strong verbal and written communication skills needed.
·Ability to exercise critical human relations skills in
establishing and maintaining effective working relations with library
colleagues, students, faculty, staff, other libraries, vendors, and the
public.
·Experience or education in K-12 education preferred.
CONTRACT: Full time (12 month) tenure track faculty position.  Hiring
salary range $42,000 to $45,000 dependent upon qualifications and
experience.  Excellent benefit package included.
