Subject: High School position available
Dear colleagues:
Graham High School in Graham, NC, is looking for a new media
specialist to serve its relatively small population of about 825
students. Like spending money? This position comes with a just-
awarded $10,000 LSTA grant, with an additional $2,500 in local
matching funds. That's over and above the regular state allotment,
which was about $16,000 last year. The principal, Mr. Todd Wirt, is
very supportive of the media program. This is a great opportunity
for someone who enjoys collection building. The full-time media
assistant is exceptionally nice, & student media assistants provide
great additional support.
The school's student population is very diverse, & the school has
been doing the now-mandated Senior Projects for several years, so
that part of the program is already well established. Junior
projects are also a big part of the student experience. The school
has outstanding arts & sports, & a fun faculty. The library is the
newest building on campus & has been seriously weeded and organized
during my watch this past year.
Alamance County also has a very active & respected media association,
with a new lead teacher for media at the central-office level. You
will find colleagues who are incredibly supportive of each other &
work actively to promote best practices throughout the school system.
If you are interested in this position, please contact Mr. Wirt at
county school's website, as I am just submitting my resignation, but
it should be officially open very soon (the school system's website
contact me at this email address.
Regards,
Laura Williams
