Position Description 

Central Piedmont Community College is a nationally recognized leader in
workforce development located in Charlotte, NC.  As the largest
community college in North Carolina with six campuses serving 70,000+
individuals every year, the College offers over 100 degree, diploma and
certificate programs in a myriad of discipline areas including
technical/vocational, professional careers, IT, health careers,
hospitality education and a comprehensive transfer general education
program.  In addition the college offers a wide selection of programs
and courses through its Corporate and Continuing Education Division.
These offerings are designed to address the personal, professional,
organizational and economic development needs of the community and are
market-inspired, growth oriented and entrepreneurial in nature. They
include Public Safety/Forensics, Healthcare, Real Estate/Mortgage
Banking, an IT Academy and a Construction Institute.

Central Piedmont Community College Libraries are committed to supporting

student and learning-centered collections, services, and environments

The staff of the CPCC libraries understand that we exist in a very
dynamic and ever changing information environment and fully embrace the
challenges a change environment presents.  The Librarian position
provides reference and instructional services, and manages a functional
area or campus library, including supervision and responsibility for
projects and part-time staff.  

A Librarian is expected to demonstrate and maintain competence in each
of the following areas. Mastery of Subject Matter; Functional Area
and/or Campus Library Management; Teaching Performance; Public Service;
Technical Services; Collection Development; Support of College Policies
and Procedures; Participation inCollege and Division Activities; and
Contribution to the Growth and Enhancement of College Mission and
Programs. 
Position Requirements 

Minimum Qualifications:
ALA accredited, Master's Degree in Library Service.

Desirable Qualifications:
*  One (1) year of library experience;
*  Knowledge of library policies and procedures;
*  Knowledge of computer, office applications, and library related
software;
*  Knowledge of research procedures and software;
*  Proficiency with web design and web authoring tools;
*  Ability to work well with individuals with diverse backgrounds;
*  Excellent customer service skills;
*  Strong technology skills.
