Reference Librarian

Array Information Technology, Inc. is seeking a full time Reference Librarian for the U.S. Department of Labor's Wirtz Labor Library located in Washington, DC. This position will perform complex legal and non-legal research and reference services in person, by phone and email.  Major responsibilities include supervision of the law library assistant, updating and reviewing law library's webpages, reference desk coverage, maintaining current knowledge and proficiency in the use of legal and non-legal information retrieval systems as well as an awareness of emerging trends in technology, reference services, and librarianship, collaborating on library initiatives, and promoting  library resources and services. The Librarian works closely with the DepartmentĒs lawyers and is heavily involved in the selection and acquisition of legal materials. 

Required:

§       MasterĒs degree from an ALA-accredited program

§       Experience locating and disseminating legal information in print and electronic formats

§       Ability to work cooperatively with library personnel, patrons and law library committee

§       Excellent computer skills with recent experience utilizing applications typical to law libraries including WESTLAW, LEXIS/NEXIS, Dialog, and library automation systems

§       Experience in collection development and working with vendors

§       Excellent oral and written communication skills

§       Additional duties as assigned
