POSITION TITLE: Children’s Services Manager

DEPARTMENT: Children’s Services

STARTING SALARY: $54,704 — $69,747 annually (effective July 1, 2007)

HOURS: Full-time (38 hours per week)

Champaign and sister city Urbana are home to the University of Illinois and the Center for Children’s Books. DUTIES

The Children’s Services Manager is responsible for creating a climate of welcome and responsive atmosphere of service for children from birth through grade 5 and their adult caregivers by inspiring and supervising the activities of ten experienced and talented staff members, training and setting a good example in the areas of programming, storytelling, selection, and customer service. The manager represents the library in the community, and participates on the library’s management team. Competitive salary and excellent benefits.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s of Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution; three years of public library experience with children; proven supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and education. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and energetic, will have a strong commitment to public service, will love people and books, and will have experience administering library service.
