A
Technology Support Analyst is needed in the Center for Digital Projects within
Joyner Library. The selected candidate will report to the head of the Center
for Digital Projects and will be primarily responsible for managing the
creation, maintenance, access, and delivery of digitized textual resources for
the library. Work will include applying structural and descriptive markup to
documents, converting page images to searchable text, maintaining the library's
digital object repository, observing digital archiving practices and standards,
and supervising graduate and undergraduate student employees in the unit.
Candidates should possess the ability to work effectively with people in a
constantly changing environment, work independently, meet supervisor deadlines,
and communicate effectively in oral and written form. It is essential that
candidates possess considerable knowledge and understanding of computers,
scanners, and Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) technologies
including XML, XSL, XPath, DTD, and XML schemas. This position necessitates
excellent proofreading skills; a problem-solving acumen; and experience
training, producing training materials, and providing hands-on assistance.
A BS degree in a technical or library-related major and experience working in a
digital library environment are preferred.
The work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. The
selected candidate will be expected to adjust work schedule to accommodate
maintenance, upgrades, or emergencies to the Digital Projects web presence.
