Reference and Instruction Librarian

 

Position 

The Stephens-Burnett Memorial Library seeks applicants for the position
of Reference and Instruction Librarian. We are seeking an energetic,
creative, innovative, and team oriented librarian with a strong
commitment to service. This position is a full-time, nine month, tenure
track position with the rank of Instructor / Assistant Professor.

 

Starting date 

August, 2007 

 

Responsibilities 

*	Responsible for providing reference service and library
instruction to the College community and for assisting in the
maintenance of the library Web site and electronic resources. 
*	Will share evening and weekend duties and serve on departmental
and College committees. 
*	Will also provide reference service and instruction for
developing distance education programs. 

 

Professional requirements 

Required : ALA-accredited master's degree. 

Desired: Recent reference experience in an academic library environment
with numerous electronic resources, substantial experience or interest
in library instruction and information literacy, knowledge of Web
authoring software and instructional technology, and a working knowledge
of U.S. Government Documents.  Carson-Newman employs faculty and staff
who are actively supportive, through a local church, of its aim as a
college with a Christian commitment. 

 

Salary and benefits 

The salary will be commensurate with educational preparation and
experience.  Group life and health insurance are available on a
participating basis. The retirement plan, however, is provided entirely
by the College.  Additional summer work is also available.

 

The College 

Carson-Newman and is a nationally recognized private liberal arts
college located in Jefferson City, Tennessee with a full-time faculty of
around 120 and some 1900 students. Carson-Newman College offers degrees
in 54 majors including graduate degrees in education, nursing, and
counseling.  Fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges
