At the moment there are 3 vacancies at the Legal Informatics and
Information Retrieval group at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven,
Belgium for PhD-students or investigators for long-term (4 yrs) or
short-term projects. The research topics are situated in the domain of
information retrieval, information extraction, mining and summarization
with focus on the textual medium, or consider the development of search
engines. There's a close collaboration with famous research groups that
are working around image processing (e.g. ESAT Visics, INRIA Grenoble,
University of Oxford), where cross-medial algorithms for content
recognition and search are developed. We collaborate with machine
learning groups (e.g. IAIS Bonn and Max-Planck Institute for Biological
Cybernetics) and with companies as Symantec and Tiscali.
