*Position Description:*  As part of the Center for Information 
Processing, this position works in a team environment in providing copy 
and original cataloging and classification in all subject fields for 
bibliographic materials received for Central University Libraries.  
Cataloger will work with a variety of formats and languages along with 
several programs, databases, and types of hardware.  In addition to 
contributing to the development of policies and procedures, this person 
also works to establish and maintain authority files, detect and correct 
database errors, and acts as a resource to other library specialists.

 

*Position Qualifications:  *MLS degree or equivalent from an ALA 
accredited library school with courses in cataloging, broad educational 
background, and cataloging proficiency in at least one modern European 
language.  An entry-level candidate should have knowledge of AACR2, 
LCSH, Library of Congress classification schedules and OCLC cataloging 
procedures.  Experience with an automated library system, professional 
experience in an academic or research environment, organizational 
skills, and the ability to work in a team environment is desirable.
