Headed by an elected state official, the Office of the Secretary of State is responsible for administering elections within the state, registering corporations and charities that do business within the state, collecting and preserving the records of governmental bodies within the state, and maintaining the Washington State Library.  The agency also administers the Address Confidentiality Program, the Productivity Board, and the Oral History Program.  Visit our website at:  www.secstate.wa.gov.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

This position works with the Library Development Program Manager to achieve the goals of the program through the development of long-range and strategic plans, evaluation of progress, and recommendation of policies and procedures for the program and the division, in the area of statewide library development and the use of federal, LSTA funding.

This position manages a staff of professional librarians who consult with library staff, library trustees, government officials, and citizens across the state on issues of major concern: governance, library law, statistics, youth services, training, and library practices.  Also supervises staff who manage statewide projects and provide training for the benefit of Washington's libraries.

May also manage significant, high profile, policy-level statewide projects which benefit all types of Washington libraries, increase the skill and knowledge of Washington library staff, and increase the ability of libraries to better serve their customers through enhanced and innovative services.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

COMPENSATION

$3908 - $5003 per month, depending on qualifications.  Washington State offers a full benefits package that includes health, life, and long term disability insurance; paid vacation, sick, and military leave; optional credit unions, savings bonds, and deferred compensation plans; eleven paid holidays; and a public employees' retirement plan.
