The University of California, Riverside Libraries seeks an innovative, energetic and service-oriented librarian. Responsibilities: Reporting to the Head of Rivera Library Reference Services, the incumbent provides reference and information services, online chat, and research consultation to a diverse user community in the humanities, social sciences, and arts. Conducts library instruction sessions. Creates and maintains related Web based and print user education materials. Participates in faculty outreach and training efforts. Serves as subject specialist to one or more academic departments in the humanities, which includes collection development. May include occasional evenings/weekend hours. Required: ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent; undergraduate degree in the humanities, or one or more years relevant experience in humanities collection development; recent professional reference experience; strong commitment to develop and deliver instruction; excellent interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community; evidence of flexibility, enthusiasm, and collegiality. Preferred: A minimum of one year's professional academic library reference and instruction experience; experience developing Web pages, tutorials, and course management systems; familiarity with digital reference; and experience selecting materials and working with faculty to develop library collections.
