Job Description
Provides vision and leadership for library services. Plans and oversees all aspects of the College¢s library services. Prepares and manages the operational and capital budgets for planning unit. Leads strategic planning for the unit. Develops, updates, and maintains a balanced information collection, including online databases, to meet the educational and accreditation needs of Western¢s students and programs. Responsible for all aspects of library services such as acquisitions, cataloging, processing, circulation, reserve, interlibrary loan and reference. Reviews and selects library technologies and systems. Provides information literacy instruction to students, faculty and others. Supervises reference librarian, library technicians and assistants. Participates in campus governance. Participates in local, state and national library organizations and forums.

Start Date: July 2, 2007.

Compensation: Starting salary of $46059 to $61276 per year with actual salary based on experience and education. Full Western benefit package will apply.

Qualifications
Master¢s degree in librarianship from an American Library Association accredited library school plus minimum of five years professional library experience with at least two years library management experience within the last five years. Must have full-text database searching skills and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of copyright law, ability to function independently while working successfully in a team management culture excellent oral, listening and writing skills. Interpersonal skills suitable for working with a diverse clientele.

Desirable additional experience includes prior work experience with 2-year college students, prior supervision, budget development and management experience and/or prior experience as a reference librarian and instruction librarian.
