Reports to: Associate Director
Classification: Library Technical Assistant I or
II
Department: Computer Services
Primary Duties:
To evaluate the need for training on various technology-related
topics (including online databases, Internet resources, the library
automation system and OPAC) and to design, implement and teach
computer instruction programs that will effectively meet those needs
for the general public and for library staff.
To develop and design innovative and effective training tools
including special bibliographies, web pages, and other documents on
various technology and computer topics for staff and patrons.
To assist in the preparation of reports.
To assist the Computer Specialist in the maintenance of all public
and staff computers, the automation system,network equipment.
To work with the Associate Director in short-term and long-range
planning for technological growth.
To stay abreast of advances in computer technology by attending
continuing education programs and making recommendations for
improvements in technology.
To work cooperatively and in professional harmony with staff
members, administrators, and the community.
To follow all library policies and procedures.
To perform other duties and assignments as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of directly related experience, normally obtained after
graduating with an Associate Degree in computer technology or
related field. Other combinations of experience and training which
provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform
job duties will also be considered. Microsoft certification
preferred.
Proven experience in providing training on Microsoft Office products
and Internet.
Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to convey
and teach technical information in terms that are understandable to
any audience.
Ability to work well in groups and individually with little
supervision.
Ability to install, operate, and troubleshoot computers,
peripherals, and other technical equipment.
Experience in web design and maintenance using Dreamweaver or
similar products preferred.
Other Requirements:
Regular work schedule is 8:30am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday but
some weekend and evenings will be required.
Ability to lift and move items and materials up to 40 pounds in
weight.
Salary and Starting Date: Salary commensurate with qualifications
and experience. Position available immediately and open until filled.
