The Hickory Public Library is seeking a professional librarian to serve as a member of its adult services staff at the Patrick Beaver Memorial Library. This position is responsible for providing reference assistance using both print and electronic resources, selection of materials in assigned areas and formats, collection maintenance, delivery of programming for library patrons, and providing bibliographic instruction to library patrons and staff. This position is responsible for developing and presenting computer classes to the general public and developing brochures and displays to promote library materials. Requirements include an ALA accredited MLS degree and eligibility for N.C. Public Library Certification; excellent customer service and communication skills; and knowledge of standard reference databases. Experience with programming and Microsoft Publisher a plus. Some nights and weekend work is required. Bilingualism is helpful. Must possess a valid Class "C" driver's license from NC.
